Ward M. Powers is the Creator and Director and of "ONE The Movie". He has been a practicing civil trial attorney in the State of Michigan for over 24 years. ONE is his first foray into independent filmmaking. An amateur musician, sculptor and author he has enjoyed a lifelong interest in the arts and creative expression. He lives in Novi, Michigan with his wife Diane and three daughters.
ONE : The Movie, has emerged in the genre of conscious cinema (along with films such as The Secret, What the Bleep Do We Know?, Celestine Prophecy, Way of the Peaceful Warrior, and Conversations With God). ONE filmmakers asked 20 questions to some of the world’s most prominent religious and spiritual teachers as well as artists, authors, atheists, and people on the street in the search for truth. The answers are intertwined with the image of a “nameless traveler” who has grown weary with the suffering and negativity of the world, and who begins a search for meaning and truth. ONE: The Movie weaves answers from interviews, drawing parallels and contrasts between religious traditions, often revealing similar worldviews from diverse people, or exposing formidable and stark contrasts, yet asserting their convergence as one. The religious documentary covers a broad range of spiritual and philosophical themes such as the source of fear, enlightenment, spirit, the meaning of life, compassion, life after death,diversity, the nature of God [[and Heaven, and religion (including Islam, Judaism,]] Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sufism, Taoism, New Age Spirituality, Hari Krishna, Native American Spirituality, Catholicism, Protestantism, Christian Fundamentalism). ONE also explores contemporary themes of [[war, conflict, terrorism, peace, global change, social responsibility and environmental concerns. Prior to editing the movie, the filmmakers consulted with contemporary American philosopher Ken Wilber, founder of the Integral Institute. The structure and sequence of the content proports to incorporate the work of Don Beck and Spiral Dynamics.

Tout a commencé à 6h 45 du matin. Un 13 avril 2002 à Détroit aux Etats-Unis. Un avocat se réveille « en méditation » avec la sensation qu’il faut qu’il fasse un film sur ce qu’est le sens de la vie. Il n’a pas d’équipement, il ne connaît rien au cinéma... et pourtant avec deux autres amis, il va rencontrer pendant 2 ans les plus grands enseignants spirituels de toutes les traditions et produire un des films les plus étonnants du moment !
Quel est le sens de la vie ? Que signifie être « un » ? Qu’est-ce que Dieu ? Comment changer le monde ? Comment passer de la peur à l’amour ?
Ce film a été pour moi une bouffée d’oxygène. Il montre bien comment le monde d’aujourd’hui suffoque, souffre, comment derrière l’aisance matérielle (de certains) se cache un monde bloqué dans les peurs, dans l’angoisse et dans la violence.
Le film explique bien comment les inégalités du monde contemporain créent un choc, une dépression, dans un premier temps, et comment avec le temps cela crée la violence, les guerres. Or si nous sommes tous différents, nous sommes paradoxalement tous les mêmes... nous sommes uniques et semblables en même temps. Le film est un hymne à la fraternité, à la spiritualité, à l’ouverture du coeur. Nous sommes Un. Nous sommes les mêmes. Le divin est partout...
